Kandus Fisher
When I purchased my first set of frogs I had no idea what I was getting into. Unfortunately like so many unknowing parents I was lured into a purchase by a local pet store who advertised the frogs as an easy to maintain stem “activity” for my wide eyed inquisitive little boy.
It was love at first sight for him!
After I got them home I started to feel like the information couldn’t be right and it seemed as though the quality of life for the little guys in such a tiny biosphere was almost inhumane. With a child who wants to be a marine biologist I felt it was important to be sure we learned all we could and did all we could to give them the absolute best life possible.
After doing some googling one night I realized the information we had been given was completely wrong. I joined a facebook group that focused on the care of the frogs and Keir was one of the kindest, sweetest most nonjudgmental people I have ever met. She was incredibly knowledgeable, and always very thoughtful about her advise to best fit the unique needs of my sons frogs and our tank.
Keir has literally held our family’s hand this entire journey . From purchasing tanks to setting them up, to ordering supplies, to what to feed our frogs, how to cycle the tanks and how to maintain appropriate water parameters within the aquariums.
She has taught me how to clean various parts of the aquarium, how to address issues like ph balances, heater malfunctions, a loud filter, and how to make our tanks as safe as possible from things like frog escapes and loss of life from aquarium decoration designs that were made with African Dwarf Frogs in mind.
And Keir has even been there in some of the lowest hardest places of this journey as well. When the lid to our first tank broke and we had a frog escape and pass Keir was there helping me do all I could to keep the other safe until a new lid arrived. When we ordered new frog babies she was there helping us find a reputable supplier and helping us raise them from the day they arrived and were placed in the breeder box. And when one of them got sick, likely with the new disease and we had to make heart wrenching decisions, Keir was there, talking us through options and sharing our grief.
I know there were times when our “need” for support and information was constant, and she never complained. Always passionate. Always intentional. Always determined to support us in our journey to do the best we could for these tiny little creatures that I have grown to loved. And though our family has had many lows on the journey, the weight of it all always was eased knowing I was supported by such a knowledge stranger that has truly grown to be a friend.
I know my sons frog is happy and experiencing a quality of life I would have otherwise never had the ability to give it if it weren’t for Keir’s passion and willingness to share her love for this hobby and these frogs with others.
I cannot recommend this company enough. You won’t find a company more committed to you and your frogs. I know my sons frog is alive and thriving today because of Keir.
